WARNING: WALL OF TEXT
I think it-¦s funny some consider Gallente to be USA. I strongly disagree. Maybe some dream or projection proclaims that, but the real thing is not like that. I think that Caldari is USA, and Gallente is more like EU. And mostly like me. And that made med convinced to choose Gallente. But when I think about i now, Gallente could be USA too. Most notably the insignia. But I withhold my opinion.
I had a hard time deciding between Gallente and Minmatar. I think Minmatar is cool. They have stripped off all bureaucracy. Or rather never embraced it. And that appeals to me. They seem to have formed a community mostly free from hierarchy and with plenty of room for alternative people and ideas. Yet they still respect each other, value each other and have indeed a community. I like the feeling of emancipation and hippieness, and being a bit of a underdog. And for this underdog reason, I doubted a bit on choosing Gallente. I thought most people would go for Gallente, and I didn't want to be on the massive faction. To solve this out, I created a second character to be Minmatar. Some say they are like space Vikings. Since I live in Viking-land IRL and don-¦t really feel that wayGǪ I wonder what image you have of Vikings and why you link them to Minmatar :-)
Amarr is just disgusting. Religion is the opium of the people. They at least do not feign (with) their stance. Although I do admit having an empress is a little - but just a very little - cool. It was a bit temping to be the total opposite. But Amarr wasn-¦t appealing in any single way to me.
But what bloodline did you choose? :-) I think that is even more interesting! I chose Intaki for my Gallente, and Vherokior for my Minmatar. Both for quite the same reason. I-¦m part of a big community, but comes from a somewhat exotic part, which is considered harsh in a way, yet prosperous, and still holds on to that in a way, and is able to kinda fit in everywhere.
Note: I haven-¦t played Eve or read any lore about this thing, so I might have gotten some things wrong.

They may look like they are using scrapheaps of rust held together with duct tape and bailing-wire but their engineers, especially the Sebiestor, are some of the best in the cluster. Their ships have been dominating the skies lately and are being nerfed because of it.
Their design esthetic is a bit rough around the edges but it gets the job done. I see the clean lines of the other races and admire their work but in the end I always choose Minmatar when I can make it work. I like to think of the look of their gear as being a form of camouflage. It doesn't stand out. Hell, sometimes it looks like it's going to fall apart. La Fortune wrote:The native Gallente actually were born from Tau Ceti French colonists. They're a bit Americanish in that they're a mix of a lot of cultures and identities, but they're certainly made out to be more European than anything.
Caldari on the other hand are a mix of corporate America with the traditions of Japanese culture.
Minmatar are essentially space Vikings.
Amarr is just, well crazy religious nuts is a good description, but their origins are with colonists from the Unified Catholic Church of Mankind, which strikes me as those southern American religious institutions.
I chose Gallente because they're awesome, although I tend to use a lot of Amarr ships and equipment, you can't fault their aesthetics. I guess I wasn-¦t that off :-)
But thing could be mixed in many ways. Like som said, Amarr could (also) be USA because of the slaves.

Which one fits modern America more? Yeah but the policies the gallente go by sound a lot like the policies that we Americans think we go by, freedom, equality and justice. And were I am you don't always notice the uber capitalism when your only choices for groceries are Walmart or Brookshires. Both total corporation freedom and total regulation result in monopoly. |
